So, I just spent the whole night talking to one of the guests here at the hotel. Nice guy, broke his knee so he's laid-up here for a while. He's one of the computer genius guys that was hacking/phone phreaking his way through the 80's and eventually got caught and hired by the feds. Brilliant guy, huge into network security and all that jazz. We talked about all sorts of stuff including computers and my future in the biz, as well as some of the cool things he does...(he had to ommit a lot cause of his security clearance). I have learned that VMS rocks, confirmed my belief that Microsoft is the shiznit for corporate America, and ended up (hopefully) making a friend that has a lot of contacts in the biz. (we swapped e-mail addresses and he's gonna take a look at my resume and forward it to some of his buds.
I also learned that he is a SG-1 fan and big into RPG's. He's sick of D&D (he claimed that he never wants to play another "fantasy" setting ever again) and has played ShadowRun literally since the first day it came out (including owning the first edition of the original source book and many others). He's also huge into Warhammer 40K.
Anyways, all-in-all it was quite an interesting night. From how he's talk'n it sounds like I'll be throw'n down some ShadowRun or something a few nights a week while I'm at work from now on :-)
